Laurie McIntosh

Laurie’s creative process doesn’t follow a single style or medium. Instead, she works in large bodies of work—often evolving over years and broken into smaller series—driven by line, shape, color, and texture to tell visual stories.

Her inspiration comes from within, sometimes as a deep calling, other times as curiosity sparked by an idea she feels compelled to explore. She chooses mediums based on the needs of each project, comparing her process to that of a novelist—idea, research, execution, editing, and presentation.

Her latest body of work in linocut was inspired by the past few years of isolation and reconnection. Time spent with family—crabbing, fishing, gardening, and gathering—sparked a celebration of simple pleasures and meaningful moments. Laurie’s hope is that her love of people, place, and shared experiences shines through each piece.
