Git Da' Net
"Git Da' Net" captures a Southern summer tradition that generations of Lowcountry families know by heart—the anticipation of watching a crab rise toward the surface while eager hands wait above. Created by acclaimed South Carolina artist Laurie Brownell McIntosh, this award-winning reduction linocut brings together childhood memories, coastal culture, and masterful printmaking in a scene that feels both deeply personal and universally familiar.
The artwork earned First Place at the South Carolina State Fair and was later selected for the cover of Carolina Arts magazine, recognizing both McIntosh's distinctive visual style and her ability to tell authentic Southern stories through printmaking. The playful composition invites viewers to relive long afternoons on docks and creek banks, where patience, curiosity, and a little luck often ended with a blue crab at the end of a string.
Created using the reduction linocut process, each color layer is individually carved and printed from the same block, making the technique both labor-intensive and impossible to duplicate once completed. Every print in the edition is hand-pulled, signed, and numbered, resulting in an original work of art rather than a reproduction.
Professionally matted and framed, this artwork arrives ready to display and serves as a striking centerpiece for coastal homes, beach houses, and collectors who appreciate authentic Lowcountry art and exceptional craftsmanship.
