Crab Crack

Sale price$400.00

A tidal tangle of blue crabs, crab claws, and cracking tools—this linocut print by Laurie McIntosh captures the delicious chaos of a proper crab feast. Bold colors and intricate lines pull you right into the action, where mallets fly and salty fingers do the real work.

For Lowcountry locals and shellfish fans alike, this one’s a flavorful celebration of messy, hands-on summer dinners.

Laurie creates her linocut reductions using a bold, hands-on process that mirrors her dynamic approach to art. Working from a single block of linoleum, she carves the image in reverse, inks it with one color, and prints it onto paper. Then she carves away more of the block, inks again in a new color, and prints the next layer—building the image step by step. Because each layer removes part of the block permanently, there's no going back—an all-in method often called “suicide printing.” It’s fearless, layered, and full of energy—just like Laurie’s work.

Cotton paper.
