Women Swimmin'
Bright, bold, and full of splash—Women Swimmin’ is another joyful entry in Laurie McIntosh’s series of linocut reduction prints. Eight stylized swimmers form a rhythmic circle, their warm tangerine, rosy, or scarlet tones glowing against a brilliant blue backdrop. Printed on premium cotton paper, each piece has a subtly textured, archival surface that enhances Laurie’s line work and gives the artwork a soft, sunwashed feel. It’s a smile-inducing print that brings a little retro flair and a lot of personality to any space—especially pool houses, playful guest rooms, or creative corners.
Laurie McIntosh creates her reduction prints using a dynamic, hands-on process that mirrors her fearless approach to art. Working from a single block of linoleum, she carves the image in reverse, inks it with one color, and prints it onto paper. Then she carves away more of the block, inks again in a new color, and prints the next layer—building the image step by step. Because each layer permanently removes part of the block, there’s no going back—an all-in method often called “suicide printing.” The result is layered, energetic, and unmistakably Laurie.
