Where's Fred
Where’s Fred is a rare, museum-style installation by Lowcountry artist Laurie McIntosh, featuring nine 16x16 mixed-media panels arranged in a 3×3 grid. Unified by Laurie’s signature mark-making, layered textures, and intuitive abstraction, each tile holds its own story—yet together they create a single visual rhythm that is unmistakably hers.
This installation nods to Laurie’s beloved linocut series featuring “Flat Fred,” a well-known figure in her body of work. Sharp-eyed collectors will spot subtle references to Fred woven throughout the composition—hinting, hiding, and resurfacing across the grid. Color, shape, and gesture move from panel to panel, making the full installation feel alive and continuously unfolding.
The edges of each panel are hand-leafed in rose gold, catching the light and adding a refined metallic shimmer that elevates the entire piece. Hung together, the nine works create a generous, architectural presence perfect for statement walls, modern interiors, and collectors seeking a standout original from one of South Carolina’s most dynamic contemporary artists.
