Where's Fred

Sale price$4,700.00

Where’s Fred is a rare, museum-style installation by local artist Laurie McIntosh, featuring nine original mixed-media panels arranged in a striking 3 x 3 grid. Unified by Laurie’s signature mark-making, layered textures, and intuitive abstraction, each panel tells its own visual story—while together creating a cohesive rhythm that is unmistakably hers.

This dynamic body of work nods to Laurie’s beloved linocut series featuring “Flat Fred,” a familiar figure woven throughout her artistic practice. Subtle references to Fred appear and disappear across the panels, inviting close inspection and repeated viewing. Color, shape, collage elements, and gestural marks move from panel to panel, creating a sense of motion, discovery, and unfolding narrative.

Each panel is created on cradled wooden board and finished with hand-leafed rose gold edges that catch the light and add a refined metallic shimmer. The layered surfaces and tactile details highlight Laurie’s thoughtful, process-driven approach, balancing spontaneity with careful construction.

Hung together, the nine works form a generous, architectural installation with strong visual presence—ideal for statement walls, modern interiors, and serious collectors. Each panel measures 16" x 16", with an installed size of approximately 48" x 48" plus spacing. This piece is sold exclusively as a complete installation and represents a standout original by one of South Carolina’s most dynamic contemporary artists.

Nine mixed-media abstract panels by Laurie McIntosh arranged in a 3×3 grid, featuring layered textures, soft greens and neutrals, and subtle references to her “Flat Fred” imagery.
