Vida Miller

Vida is a passionate advocate for the arts and a lifelong supporter of South Carolina’s creative community. A former state legislator, she played a key role in securing state funding for the installation of the historic Brown’s Ferry Vessel—the oldest wooden boat in America—at the Rice Museum. For more than 25 years, she has championed the museum and supported numerous initiatives to elevate local arts and culture.

An award-winning artist, Vida is a Member with Excellence of the South Carolina Watercolor Society and has actively participated in regional exhibits and events throughout her career. She has served on the boards of the Waccamaw Arts and Craft Guild, the Georgetown Watercolor Society, and the South Carolina Arts Alliance. Most recently, she was elected to the prestigious South Carolina Arts Foundation Board, which partners with the SC Arts Commission to support and promote the arts statewide. She also established the Waccamaw Neck Arts Alliance, a nonprofit organization that now includes more than sixty local artists.

In 1980, Vida founded the Gray Man Gallery in Pawleys Island, which she owned and operated for 42 years, becoming a cornerstone of the local arts scene. Vida’s leadership, talent, and unwavering dedication continue to enrich and inspire the South Carolina arts community. We couldn’t love her more!
