Pawleys Oyster II

Pawleys Oyster II celebrates one of the simplest and most recognizable treasures of the South Carolina coast: the humble oyster shell. Painted by longtime Pawleys Island artist and Gray Man Gallery founder Vida Miller, this one-of-a-kind original watercolor transforms a familiar Lowcountry find into a small work of art filled with color, texture, and personality.

In this oyster study, Vida captures a long, slender shell with soft washes of cream, sand, blush, lavender, smoky gray, and rich purple. The translucent nature of watercolor is particularly beautiful here, allowing colors to overlap and settle into one another much like the subtle mineral tones found inside a real oyster shell. Darker, irregular edges trace the shell’s weathered exterior, while loose brushwork preserves the organic quality that makes every oyster—and every original watercolor—different.

This is an original watercolor painting by Vida Miller, not a print or reproduction. Vida has signed the artwork, which is professionally matted and framed in a softly weathered light wood frame.
