Summer Okra

Sale price$450.00

Summer Okra is a love letter to Southern kitchens and summertime rituals. This original linocut print by Laurie McIntosh features four perfectly packed mason jars lined up in crisp graphic detail—each one brimming with hand-cut okra and nostalgia. With bold lines and rich green tones, Laurie transforms a humble vegetable into an icon of Southern life, memory, and preservation.

Laurie McIntosh creates her linocut reductions using a bold, hands-on process that mirrors her dynamic approach to art. Working from a single block of linoleum, she carves the image in reverse, inks it with one color, and prints it onto paper. Then she carves away more of the block, inks again in a new color, and prints the next layer—building the image step by step. Because each layer removes part of the block permanently, there's no going back—an all-in method often called “suicide printing.” It’s fearless, layered, and full of energy—just like Laurie’s work.

Cotton paper.
