Shrimp Stock
A vibrant pile-up of Lowcountry flavor—shrimp, shells, and sea-slick textures all tangled in a beautiful mess. Laurie McIntosh’s linocut print captures the aftermath of a boil (or maybe the prep for one), full of movement, heat, and that unmistakable coastal energy.
Printed on cotton paper and bursting with warm, spicy tones, it’s a tribute to shrimp season and the savory chaos that comes with it.
Laurie creates her linocut reductions using a bold, hands-on process that mirrors her dynamic approach to art. Working from a single block of linoleum, she carves the image in reverse, inks it with one color, and prints it onto paper. Then she carves away more of the block, inks again in a new color, and prints the next layer—building the image step by step. Because each layer removes part of the block permanently, there's no going back—an all-in method often called “suicide printing.” It’s fearless, layered, and full of energy—just like Laurie’s work.
