Golden Hymns
Golden Hymns is a mixed-media original by Pawleys Island artist Jeanne O’Neal that blends faith, nostalgia, and layered texture into a small but powerful work. Created using vintage hymn sheet music and expressive acrylic paint, the piece evokes the feeling of old church songs, worn hymnals, and the quiet beauty of sacred traditions passed down through generations.
At the center of the composition, Jeanne forms an abstracted cross and halo-like shapes using fragments of antique hymn pages, allowing the music itself to become part of the imagery. Warm gold accents move across the surface in loose brushstrokes, bringing light and movement to the piece while the deep violet background adds richness and depth.
Compact in scale but full of character, Golden Hymns is perfect for a bookshelf, desk, mantel, or small wall vignette. The layered textures and meaningful materials make it a thoughtful gift for the holiday season or a special keepsake for anyone who loves sacred music, meaningful art, or Jeanne O’Neal’s distinctive mixed-media style.
Each original work by Jeanne O’Neal is available at Gray Man Gallery in Pawleys Island, South Carolina, where we proudly represent some of the Lowcountry’s most beloved local artists.
