Flat Fred
Meet Flat Fred, Laurie McIntosh’s delightfully detailed tribute to one of the Lowcountry’s most beloved bottom-dwellers. Rendered in rich black and silvery gray, this limited-edition linocut captures every spot, fin, and quirky contour of the flounder with a mix of precision and charm.
Perfect for coastal kitchens, fishing cabins, or anyone who appreciates local flavor with a touch of wit. Fred might be flat—but he’s full of personality.
Laurie creates her linocut reductions using a bold, hands-on process that mirrors her dynamic approach to art. Working from a single block of linoleum, she carves the image in reverse, inks it with one color, and prints it onto paper. Then she carves away more of the block, inks again in a new color, and prints the next layer—building the image step by step. Because each layer removes part of the block permanently, there's no going back—an all-in method often called “suicide printing.” It’s fearless, layered, and full of energy—just like Laurie’s work.
Cotton paper.
