First Blue Wheels
First Blue Wheels is an original linocut by local artist Laurie McIntosh that captures the wonder of a childhood milestone in just two colors and a single, quiet moment. A powder-blue tricycle anchors the composition below, while a bright orange balloon floats skyward on a long, delicate string—airy, joyful, and full of movement.
Hand-printed on soft cotton paper, this original linocut reflects Laurie’s bold reduction printing process. Working from a single block of linoleum, she carves the image in reverse, inks it with one color, and prints it before carving away more of the block and repeating the process with the next layer. Because each stage permanently removes part of the block, there is no going back—each impression is the result of a fearless, all-in process that makes every piece truly one of a kind.
Professionally matted and framed, First Blue Wheels is ready to hang and beautifully presented, allowing the artwork’s simplicity and sense of motion to shine. Perfect for nurseries, playrooms, or anyone drawn to meaningful, minimalist storytelling, this piece feels both grounded and whimsical—like a memory you didn’t realize you’d been holding onto.
