Brookgreen Beauty

A garden of color, light, and reflection. Brookgreen Beauty is an original pastel painting by local South Carolina artist Joanne Willoughby, inspired by the enchanting beauty of Brookgreen Gardens in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina. Featuring a peaceful lily pond filled with floating lily pads, delicate pink water lilies, and graceful aquatic grasses, this vibrant work captures the lush, natural beauty of one of the Lowcountry's most beloved destinations.

Joanne brings the scene to life through her expressive use of pastel, layering brilliant greens, turquoise blues, warm golds, soft pinks, and unexpected touches of violet and coral. Rather than focusing on precise botanical detail, she captures the movement of color across the water, the shifting reflections, and the wonderful interplay of light and shadow. The result is a painting that feels both peaceful and full of energy, with a painterly quality that invites you to discover something new each time you look.

Beautifully presented in a classic gold frame, Brookgreen Beauty celebrates the timeless appeal of garden landscapes and the extraordinary natural surroundings of coastal South Carolina. Its generous color palette makes it a striking addition to a living room, sunroom, bedroom, or any space that could use a little color and serenity.

An original, one-of-a-kind pastel painting, Brookgreen Beauty is available at Gray Man Gallery in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
