Trouts 'n Stouts

Sale price$165.00

Trouts 'n Stouts is a one-of-a-kind mixed media sculpture by Charleston artist Nick Kawczynski, created exclusively for Gray Man Gallery.

Hand-cut from marine-grade plywood, individually painted by hand, and mounted to a piece of found wood, this playful sculpture celebrates two Lowcountry favorites: sea trout and cold beer. With a leaping trout emerging from a foaming stout, the piece captures the humor, storytelling, and coastal character that define much of Nick's work.

Kawczynski creates each sculpture from reclaimed and repurposed materials whenever possible, transforming simple objects into artwork that feels both familiar and unexpected. Much of the marine-grade plywood used in his work comes from scraps donated by the Lowcountry Maritime Society, where Nick volunteers. The organization teaches local students how to build traditional Bevin's skiffs during the school year, launching the completed boats at the end of each semester. Rather than seeing the leftover wood discarded, Nick gives those materials a second life through his artwork.

Inspired by time spent outdoors, on the water, and immersed in the everyday experiences that make coastal living so memorable, Nick's work celebrates the people, traditions, and stories of the South Carolina coast.

Every piece is completely unique. While themes may reappear throughout his work, no two sculptures are exactly alike, making Trouts 'n Stouts a true original.

Ready to display on a shelf, tabletop, or mantel, this whimsical sculpture is equally at home in a beach house, fishing cabin, man cave, bar area, or Lowcountry-inspired collection.

Materials: Acrylic paint, marine-grade plywood, found wood.
