Open Water
Open Water captures the wide, quiet expanse of the Abacos, where sky and sea stretch endlessly and the landscape settles into soft, layered color. Painted by local artist Jeanne O’Neal, this original gouache leans into atmosphere over detail, using loose brushwork and a restrained palette to suggest shifting clouds, shallow water, and distant low-lying islands.
The composition is intentionally open, drawing your eye across the horizon and into the soft transitions between pale blues, seafoam greens, and muted coastal tones. There’s a sense of stillness here—of space, light, and the calm that comes with it.
Part of the Postcards from Abaco collection, this piece feels like a breath of fresh air—uncomplicated, expansive, and quietly grounded in place. Its small scale makes it easy to live with on its own or as part of a collected grouping.
Sized to fit a standard frame—like the ones we carry here at Gray Man Gallery—Open Water is a small original with a strong sense of openness and light.
