Daybreak

Sale price$395.00

Daybreak by Jeanne O’Neal captures that fleeting moment when the Lowcountry marsh begins to wake—the sky still washed in cool lavender and blue while a brilliant ribbon of orange light breaks along the horizon. Reflected across the winding tidal creeks and scattered pools of water below, the first light of morning transforms the marsh into a patchwork of luminous blues, greens, golds, and violets.

Painted in oil, the landscape has the loose, expressive quality that makes Jeanne O’Neal’s Lowcountry paintings so recognizable. Rather than rendering every blade of marsh grass or ripple of water literally, Jeanne builds the scene through layers of color and energetic brushwork. Cool passages of blue and violet move against warm ochres and fresh greens, while flashes of reflected light lead the eye from the foreground through the marsh and toward the glowing horizon.

There is something especially beautiful about the sky in Daybreak. Heavy lavender clouds still carry the colors of night, but the narrow band of brilliant orange beneath them signals the arrival of a new day. That contrast gives the painting both drama and quietness—a familiar Lowcountry landscape caught during a moment that lasts only minutes.

An original oil painting by South Carolina artist Jeanne O’Neal, Daybreak is a celebration of the tidal marshes, waterways, changing skies, and extraordinary coastal light that define the Lowcountry. Presented in a warm gold frame, the painting is completely finished and ready to hang.

Available at Gray Man Gallery in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
