Jamie Arnold
Meteorologist • Painter • Lowcountry Light Chaser
For Meteorologist Jamie Arnold, weather has always been more than a forecast—it’s a lifelong fascination with light, atmosphere, and the ever-changing moods of the sky. That passion began when Hurricane Hugo tore through his hometown of Charlotte, North Carolina, sparking what would become a career dedicated to understanding and communicating the power of storms.
A longtime meteorologist and weekday evening forecaster for WMBF News, Jamie holds both bachelor’s and master’s degrees in atmospheric science and geography from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. Years of tracking Carolina storms, sunsets, and shifting coastal skies have given him a rare eye for the patterns and poetry of the natural world—something that now translates beautifully to canvas.
Though he’s painted since his teens, Jamie’s artistic journey has deepened in recent years. Embracing a learn-by-doing philosophy, he creates expressive landscapes that capture the drama and serenity of the Lowcountry. He describes painting as his “ultimate escape and stress relief,” a way to quiet the noise of a busy world and reconnect with the peace and beauty that drew him to the coast.
When he’s not tracking storms or painting them, Jamie can be found enjoying the coastal life he loves—spending time with family, cooking, working in the yard, or simply watching clouds roll in from the beach.
Jamie’s paintings are featured at Gray Man Gallery in Pawleys Island, South Carolina.
